Exploring New Creative Horizons: My First Resin Art Project - Alphabet Keychain
As an artist, my creativity has never been confined to just one medium. After years of working with acrylics, I felt the need to explore something new, something that would challenge and excite me. That’s when I stumbled upon resin art. Intrigued by the possibilities, I decided to dive into this glossy, vibrant world. In this blog, I’ll share my experience of creating my very first resin art project a custom alphabet keychain using just a few simple materials.
The Spark of Inspiration
It all started when I was browsing the internet, searching for fresh ideas and creative challenges. I came across some beautiful resin art pieces and was immediately captivated by their glossy, glass-like finish and the endless possibilities for customization. The idea of creating something small yet meaningful, like a personalized keychain, sparked my interest. With a bit of research, I gathered the necessary materials and set out to create my first resin art piece.
Materials I Used
For this project, I kept things simple:
Alphabet mold:
A silicone mold with letters, perfect for creating personalized keychains.
Epoxy resin and hardener:
The essential components that, when mixed, form the solid, glossy finish.
Mixing cups and sticks:
For combining the resin and hardener.
Pigments and glitter:
To add a pop of color and sparkle to the keychain.
Keychain rings:
To turn the resin letters into functional keychains.
Gloves and a protective workspace:
Safety first, especially when working with resin!

Here Step by step Process for Resin key chin
1. Preparing the Workspace
I started by setting up a clean, well-ventilated workspace. Resin can be messy, so I made sure to cover my table with a plastic sheet and put on gloves to protect my hands.
2. Mixing the Resin
Following the instructions on the resin kit, I measured out equal parts of resin and hardener. I poured them into a mixing cup and stirred slowly for a few minutes until they were thoroughly combined. It’s crucial to mix well to ensure the resin cures properly.
3. Adding Color and Sparkle
Next, I divided the resin into smaller cups and added different pigments and glitter to each one. I chose colors that I thought would look great together—bright, bold shades that would make the letters pop. I stirred each mixture until the color was evenly distributed.
4. Pouring the Resin into the Mold
Once the resin was ready, I carefully poured it into the alphabet mold, filling each letter I wanted to create. The silicone mold made it easy to fill each section without spilling. I also added a bit of extra glitter on top for some extra sparkle.
5. Removing Air Bubbles
After pouring, I noticed small air bubbles forming on the surface. To get rid of them, I gently passed a heat gun over the mold. The warmth helped the bubbles rise to the surface and pop, leaving a smooth finish.
6. Curing Time
The hardest part was waiting! I left the mold on a flat surface and covered it to protect it from dust. After about 24 hours, the resin had cured, and the letters were hard and glossy.
7. Finishing Touches
Finally, I popped the letters out of the mold and admired my work. The colors were vibrant, and the glitter added just the right amount of sparkle. I attached the letters to keychain rings, and just like that, I had created my first resin keychains!
Trying something new, like resin art, can be a refreshing way to reinvigorate your creativity. My first project a personalized alphabet keychain was not only fun to make but also rewarding to see the final result. Whether you’re an experienced artist looking to explore a new medium or someone completely new to art, resin offers endless possibilities for creativity. So why not give it a try? You might just find a new passion, just like I did!
