Here are some tips for observing nature to improve your paintings -

Spend time outdoors -: 

Take walk in the woods, sit by a river, or simply observe the plants and animals in the backyard

Pay attention to details:-

Notice the shapes ,colors and texture of laves , rocks, water and other natural elements.

Study the light :- 

Observe how the light falls on different objects, creating shadows, highlights  and reflections
Here a step by step guide to creating a nature paintings. 

Preparing your canvas is an essential step before starting to paint.

Choose the right canvas :- 


Select a high quality canvas specially designed for painting you can opt for cotton, linen, or synthetic canvas 



Stretch and prime :- 

If your canvas isn't pre-stretched ,stretch it over a frame or board. then, apply a coat of gesso primer to create a smooth surface.

Tone the canvas :- 

Apply a tone or base coat to the entire canvas .this helps establish a uniform base color and can also serve as a mid-tone reference.

Sketch your composition:- 

Lightly sketch your composition onto the canvas using a pencil or charcoal.

Check and adjust :- 

Double- check your sketch for accuracy and make any necessary adjustment.

Some popular canvas preparation's techniques include:- 

Imprimatura :- 

Applying a thin, transparent layer of paint to the entire canvas. 

Colored ground:- 

Using a colored tone or base coat to create a specific mood or atmosphere.

Texture :- 

Adding texture to the canvas using modeling paste, gel medium, or heavy body paint.
Remember, proper canvas preparation sets the foundation for a successful painting. Take your time, and enjoy the process!

Lets starts the process

First I am lightly sketching all the main elements just like trees , forest , house born fire. I am using simple shapes and lines to capture the composition. after sketching choose the colors, I am choosing warm autumn colors palette. burnt orange ,golden yellow , deep red, soft pink, purple, muted brown this colors using for my painting. considering a few cool tones for contrast using purple and red for an autumn painting is a unique and bold choice! these colors can create a rich, vibrant , and dramatic atmosphere perfect for capturing the intense emotions. and warmth of the season. when you are working with bold colors like purple and red, it's essential to balance them harmoniously to avoid visual overload. you can use your color theme. experiment with different shades, tints and tones to create a unique and captivating autumn atmosphere.

After  Choosing colors. you start with background painting. In my painting I want dark forest with  moon light on leaves. I am using black for trees branches and red and purple color for the leaves. also painting there is tree with red and yellow leaves, using bold brushstrokes. mixing of warm  colors orange , red and yellow to capture to the autumn foliage. using small number brushes to paint bonfire in the center of the canvas, using warm colors like orange and yellow. adding flames and sparks to create a sense of movement. adding warm lighting to the scene using the bonfire as the primary light source using  soft brushstrokes to create a suitable glow. also painting traditional style house as one side view and the other side trees. adding windows to the house to create a cozy atmosphere. the bonfire in the casting a warm glow everywhere. the light from the bonfire illuminates all the things like chairs , trees and floors. making them look cozy and inviting. the windows of the house, creating a warm and welcoming. ambiance. light is spreads throughout the scene. using small brush to paint individual levees falling from the tree. capturing the movement of the leaves by painting at different angles and distances from the trees.

Using a soft brush to create a sense of leaves floating in the air. painting small, delicate leaves in various colors, scattered throughout  the canvas. creating a sense of depth by layering leaves with some overlapping others. paintings gathering area in front of the house, with comfortable chairs.

For details :-

For details or adding depth using black color. use a small brush  to paint fine lines and details. some specific areas where you can use black details. 


Applying varnish to painting is great way to protect the artwork from dust, UV light and other environmental factors.
